China people are so excited about the coming Olympics. They have tried their best to make this to be a best event ever. They want to present the new China image to the world.
Unfortunately, the foreign media does not really appreciate the effort. The bad air condition in Beijing, the bombing in Xinjiang, the earthquake in Sichuan, the teardown of people's houses to give places to new Beijing image, all those negative topics are full of major media websites.
Why Chinese are so excited while foreigners are so criticized? Personally, i don't think Beijing's air condition is so bad that you have to wear a mask; i think the bombing in Xinjiang is a terrorism and should be criticized but not be promoted for whatever reason - 16 policemen dead, they are also human beings; the earthquake in Sichuan was bad in May, but this time is only a small one; the people got their houses teardown would eventually got indemnity... A lot of things could be made up, include those videos. I trusted my own eyes, what I saw in Shanghai, in Beijing, in Tebit, and from the eyes of friends, family members and people I talked on the road when I traveled in China. There is always a gap between what Chinese see themselves and their country and what foreigners see Chinese and China.
I was quite bothered when my friends in Canada talk about China with me - it seems we don't speak same language. They don't trust what I say, and I think they are ignorance on this matter. I feel sorry and sad for China people who are always misunderstood by the others in the world. Whatever, life seems simple and happy when you totally not think and talk about it. God bless Beijing!
