One of the reasons why we stopped so many places is we wanted to experience as more paradors as possible. "Parador is an old Spanish word for a lodging place for travellers of respetable rank. In the late 1920s a national network of stat-run hotels called paradors was established. Many of the nearly 90 paradors are converted castles, palaces or monasteries. The prices are comparable with other luxury hotels. All offer a high degree of comfort and service, and have restaurants which offer regional cuisine." - from DK Eyewiness Travel Guides Spain
Parador#1 Plasencia: Aconvent dating from the 15th Century

Parador#2 Cuidad Rodrigo: A 14th Century Castle constructed on a cleft on the plain of the river Agueda

Parador#3 Zamaro: A 15th Century Renaissance Palace decorated with the medieval aroma

Look what I found on the newspaper when check-out - see top left corner of the picture in the newspaper:

Parador#4 Leon: A 16th Century Monastery Hospital, A living Museum

Parador#5 Avila: A 16th Century Palace, backs onto the city walls.

Parador#6 Cuenca: A 16th Century Convent opposite the hanging houses
